There are much better thrillers out there. Don’t get me wrong, the characters are well fleshed out and each is unique, but having so many characters over decades, exhibiting the same brand of quirky humor makes many caatherine them sound like the same voice. However, it doesn’t detract from the enjoyment of the book.

The way Catherine uses characters from previous books, it helps you understand the story better and is just fun …more You do not coultter to read them in order. There is a convoluted theme involving murder, information technology theft and the disappearance of an attorney which was under-explained.

I wish I can weave a character as lovable and evil as hers. And Sean is a trip. Lots going on in backifre mystery which is part of the FBI thriller series: Is the note connected to Judge Hunt’s shooting?


Some of the scenes weren’t completely believable either, especially when it comes to the actions of the bad guys Open Preview See a Problem? Coulter does a nice job building the suspense and throws a big twist in that I didn’t see coming. Thanks for telling us about the problem.

Books by Catherine Coulter. He saw no one aboard and for a moment he felt alarmed. As always a good entertaining read that moves along nicely with action, some family bonding, and sprinkling of romance.

There were parts that I was afraid to read because I’ve been emotionally vested with characters and I was scared as to what was going to happen.

Will they be able to find the shooter on time? We also have to believe that a poorly educated person, straight out of prison, has the money to follow her target across country and hatch intricate plans to seek revenge.


I’m not sure if I will end up reading more of this series at some cagherine, although I do know that if I will see one of them on sale I will probably end up buying it. I have read a good deal of her books and if anyone wanting to read them wonders, you will find that they are all stand alone books. Fans of the Sherlock and Savich series will not be disappointed with this outing.

Fiction Book Review: Backfire by Catherine Coulter. Putnam, $ (p) ISBN

The prose is easy to read, although the romance scenes were a bit on the cheesy side for my taste. Backfire is not the perfect read, but good enough for a few hours of easy reading on the beach or curled up in a chair with a cup of steaming coffee.
