Not ljst that useful in combat, but the Beguiler is as much about avoid combat as anything. Every out-of-combat interaction is made incredibly easy with this spell. Misdirection — Somehow even less relevant than Undetectable Alignment. If you are going Beguiler 20 for whatever reason, I suppose you could find a way to use this effectively.

At level 1, you can end every combat encounter with one casting of this spell unless there are too many enemies to fit in the area of effect. Short duration makes it pretty useless. The magical bonus is a competence bonus.
The duration is enough to be an entire combat, and the effect of the spell pretty well neuters physical threats while letting AoE spells work without a problem. The effect is pretty weak for a 3rd level spell though. Pretty high level for what it does though, and the duration makes the infinite range matter a lot less.
You can’t wear a medium suit of mithral armor, though, which kind of sucks. If you really want to use Cloaked Casting, spelk should use marbles or invisibility.
The HD limit makes it irrelevant after that. No full-round actions protects against some of the most brutal melee attackers and the lowered movement speed makes even the partial charge pretty useless. At most a buckler, but a buckler is worth 1 AC and so it’s nothing to worry about.
Detect Thoughts — Extremely useful in roleplay beguiller, extremely useless outside of them. Travel to Ethereal Plane with companions. Blocks vision and slows movement. If you build to use this, it will be of some benefit. Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Dominate Person — You literally get a thrall.

Spell Turning — Potentially really nice, though it can easily be wasted if you get unlucky. Mass Invisibility — By this level, you should have way better methods of infiltration kist 15 minutes of invisibility. Still, SR is annoying enough that maxing your check can never hurt.

This training does not extend to any other form of armor, nor does this ability apply to spells gained from other spellcasting classes. Dispel Magic — Really useful, but also really tough to succeed with. Change the name also URL address, possibly the category of the page. If your DM is uncomfortable with the idea, offer a compromise: Misleads divinations for one creature or object.
Stat boosts and other generic items are not listed. Perfect when opponents are immune to your mindaffecting spells. Useful if you need to get somewhere, but then if you need to get somewhere the DM will always give you a way regardless. The options are limited to Enchantment and Illusion, which are sadly somewhat limited schools, but there are certainly some good picks even so.

Blinds creature with hp or less. As silent image, plus some sound. As invisibility, but affects all in range. Definitely one of the better buff spells in the right party. Power Word Blind — A bit late to get a spell like this.
Spider Climb — Lst amazing, but usually only lish. The duration is also a little too short for what you typically want to do with it Expeditious Retreat — If you need to run, this will make kist you get away.
Change subject creature’s attitude to helpful for 1 round. That said, if you use it on an animal or a magical beast, you have a pretty damn good chance of success and you get to bring it with you. It also allows several targets, which is not true of all of your spells at this level. Unfortunately, the nature of spontaneous casting means that using a silent spell takes extra time on top of the extra slot.
Making a Balance check makes you flat-footed, so it creates an opening for sneak attacks on every turn of its duration. Hesitate — Potentially really good. Unfortunately, most spellcasters will be at or above you level, which makes your chances of success less than stellar.

Besides that, this governs bonus spells, skill points, knowledges, and most prominently the save DCs of your spells. The radius is incredibly narrow. Still, in non-combat contexts this spell can be really nice, and even in combat you can do some pretty effective things, like making a paladin soell his sword. As a bonus, this spell works especially well on the creatures that are immune to sspell other spells — unintelligent undead, constructs, and plants.
