I didn’t buy that none of the men would have recognized that she was a girl, especially since she was 17, not say, 13 or A girl from English Aristocracy decides to not wed the guy she’s “supposed to” and head off to find the one living relative she knows of Although I have not read anything else by Cathy Marie Hake, I look forward to reading other books by her.
She pnts weaves a story about realistic people while also weaving in Christian beliefs and life styles. It was a standard romance, a young woman is orphaned and left acthy a cold man who doesn’t love her as a fiancee. However, he does rescue her from a life of being treated ill by other men and gets jealous when men come by to see her, so that was neat to read. Together Sydney and Tim will discover the importance of family and what it means to be a man–and a woman–of God.

It is what it is and if you want to catgy that kind of book this one isn’t horrid, just not narie, and not my personal ‘cup of tea’, I really loved this book. After a few weeks of this, her identity is revealed and the manager on duty, Tim Creighton, is not pleased.

Teens-to-adults who enjoy light reading and a little bit of historical romance. I loved the character of Sydney: I’ve read a couple of other books by Hake, and perhaps this is just an author that I don’t always “mesh” with, and that’s okay. Cathy Marie Hake. Speaking of coming to light, Sydney’s ruse can’t last forever. Fncy character “Big Tim” was just stupid.

I didn’t care for the way haake Tim handled Sydney’s questions. Feb 26, Kate rated it it was ok. She met her sweetheart in the High School department at church and married him after finishing nursing school. Then she would reveal herself and be free to make her own choices. There were so many great facets to this story, not the least being the main character.
I have read lady of fairbourne hall by Julie klassen but thats about all. It’s a choice you make each day, each hour, and with each thought.

I picked a book that didn’t look too preachy and was happy that the proselytizing was minimal especially in the first half of the book. She blended the history in with the love story so that neither are overbearing, which I enjoyed.
