Buried Prey (Lucas Davenport, #21) by John Sandford
It would be an enormous spoiler. As always there is a question of whether or not a decision is a moral one or not.
As a result, about half of the book is a flashback to Davenport’s work on this case, early in his career. The dialogue and scenarios that are played out in Buried Prey are truly believable, and you feel like a ghost in the room as you follow along with Davenport’s life and the investigation.
This is an older Lucas Davenport book Katie Darin had some insight into student housing.
It was the truth. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. And if, like me, you’ve already read most of those books, you’ll recognize it as the case that explains some of the je ne sais quoi that raises those books above the unchallenging tripe Books 22ff.
I enjoyed this as a first-class thriller which involved real detective-work; the cold-case taps the full mature depth of Lucas’s instincts.
